Winnipeg police have charged two 17-year-old boys following a series of four separate shooting incidents that occurred over a short period in the city’s downtown area, raising serious concerns about public safety and youth involvement in violent crime.

According to investigators, the incidents took place between May 12 and May 13, 2026, at multiple locations across downtown Winnipeg. In one of the more alarming cases, bullets struck the interior of a residence on Beverly Street while people were inside. Fortunately, despite the multiple gunfire incidents, no physical injuries were reported.

Police say the shootings involved the discharge of a 9mm firearm at different locations over the two-day span. The incidents were not initially believed to be directly targeted, though investigators continue to examine possible links and motives as the case develops.

Winnipeg Police Service officers were able to identify and locate the suspects during routine patrols. The two teens were taken into custody without incident in a back lane area. Following their arrest, both were formally charged with multiple firearms-related offences and additional criminal charges connected to the investigation.

Authorities have also indicated that one of the accused had prior involvement with the justice system, including alleged breaches of previous court-ordered conditions.

Police officials have described the series of events as highly concerning due to the number of incidents occurring in such a short timeframe and the risk posed to the public. The investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to gather evidence and determine whether additional individuals may be involved.

Community members in the affected areas have expressed concern over the violence, particularly given the proximity of some of the shootings to residential spaces.

Winnipeg police are urging anyone with information, CCTV footage, or relevant observations from the affected time period to come forward to assist investigators.

As the case proceeds through the justice system, both accused youths remain before the courts.
