Winnipeg Transit Unveils Spring 2026 Schedule — More Buses, Later Nights, and Updated Routes
Winnipeg Transit is rolling out a new schedule this spring, starting April 12, 2026. The goal is to make commuting smoother, more reliable, and better suited to the needs of everyday riders.
More Buses on Busy Routes
Several of the city’s busiest routes will see additional trips to reduce waiting times and crowding. This includes high-demand lines like:
- F5 (McPhillips – Donald): Buses every 10–15 minutes during peak hours, connecting Garden City, Fort Rouge, and major north-south corridors.
- F8 (Henderson – Pembina): Frequent service with departures roughly every 12 minutes, serving educational hubs, shopping areas, and residential neighborhoods.
- Route 74 (Polo Park – Old Commonwealth Path): More frequent trips during morning and evening rush hours.
- Routes 557 & 676: Serving south and southeast Winnipeg, these routes have added trips during peak times to reduce congestion.
These changes make it easier for commuters, students, and shoppers to reach their destinations without long waits.
Extended Late-Night Service
For evening travelers, select routes now run past midnight, providing greater flexibility. Extended service applies to:
- Direct Routes: D10, D14, D16, D17
- Other Key Routes: 28, 38, 43, 70, 74, 680
Example late-night timings:
- D14: Last departure from downtown ~12:10 a.m., arriving in suburban areas ~12:50 a.m.
- F8: Last northbound trip ~12:15 a.m. from Glenway Loop
- 70: Last evening trip departs ~11:50 p.m. with connections to downtown
This expanded service ensures that night workers, students, and evening travelers have reliable transit options.
Adjustments for Efficiency
Not every route is increasing. Some lower-ridership lines, such as parts of FX3 and FX4, have adjusted service levels to better allocate buses where they are most needed. This ensures the system remains reliable and resources are efficiently used.
Listening to Riders
These updates come after nearly a year following Winnipeg Transit’s major network redesign in 2025. City officials say these changes reflect public feedback and ongoing improvements, with more refinements expected later this year.
Example Daily Frequency Snapshot (Weekday)
| Route | Morning Peak | Midday | Evening | Late Night |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| F5 | Every 10 min | Every 12 min | Every 15 min | Ends 11:45 p.m. |
| F8 | Every 12 min | Every 15 min | Every 15 min | Ends 12:15 a.m. |
| D14 | Every 15 min | Every 20 min | Every 20 min | Ends 12:50 a.m. |
| 28 | Every 15 min | Every 20 min | Every 20 min | Ends 12:05 a.m. |
| 74 | Every 10–12 min | Every 15 min | Every 15 min | Ends 12:10 a.m. |
