Winnipeg police say three men are facing charges after a drug investigation led to a major seizure in the city’s east end earlier this month.
According to investigators, officers executed a search warrant at a home on St. Catherine Street in the Archwood neighbourhood on March 12. The search was part of an ongoing probe into suspected drug trafficking activity in the area.
Inside the residence, police say they located a significant quantity of cocaine — approximately 2.5 kilograms — with an estimated street value of about $90,000. Along with the drugs, officers also seized items believed to be connected to drug distribution, including cash, prescription pills, digital scales, packaging materials, and electronic devices.
Police say the evidence suggests the location was being used to process and distribute drugs within the city. The seizure is being described as a substantial disruption to a local trafficking operation.
Three suspects, aged 27, 31, and 32, were taken into custody at separate locations across Winnipeg without incident. All three men are now facing charges related to possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and remain before the courts.
Winnipeg police say they continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information related to drug activity in their neighbourhoods to come forward.
